Curriculum Description
The Hazardous Material Awareness course is a foundational training programme designed to provide individuals with the necessary information and abilities to identify and address hazardous material occurrences safely and efficiently. The purpose of this course is to act as the first stage of a comprehensive training and certification programme designed for personnel involved in the response to dangerous hazardous material.
Outcomes
- Empower participants with the capacity to identify and articulate prevalent harmful substances and their associated characteristics. Hence, it will facilitate their comprehension of these substances’ potential health and safety hazards.
- Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of the legal framework, rules, and established criteria that govern the management and response to hazardous materials incidents. Emphasis will be placed on NFPA standards that are particularly pertinent to this field.
- Participants will acquire the ability to articulate the fundamental principles of incident command, emergency response protocols, and the appropriate processes for notifying and reporting hazardous materials events.
- Equip participants with knowledge and skills about executing safety and isolation protocols in hazardous materials incident scenarios, encompassing the establishment of secure areas.
- Participants will obtain an understanding of the significance of public safety in hazardous materials situations and will acquire the ability to effectively execute evacuation and protective action protocols to safeguard both the general public and emergency personnel.
